What is Venus Viva™ MD?
When it comes to skin resurfacing, lasers used to be the frontrunner, but these procedures also came with a lot of pain and downtime that could last several weeks, if not longer (since they essentially remove the top layer of your skin). Venus Viva™ MD skin, resurfacing treatments, on the other hand, deliver the same results, just with significantly less pain and much lower downtime. And unlike lasers, which only work for fair complexions, Venus Viva™ MD skin resurfacing treatments use technology that is safe for all skin tones. You'll also notice much better results than with superficial treatments like chemical peels and micro dermabrasion.
How it works
Venus Viva™ MD skin, resurfacing treatments, work with tiny pins that safely deliver heat (via NanoFractional Radio Frequency) through the skin’s surface. This creates tiny micro-dermal wounds, which the body naturally heals on its own. This process repairs signs of skin damage visible on the surface of the skin. Since the wounds are so small, the treatment is much more comfortable than traditional lasers, while still producing incredibly visible results.
Your treatment provider may also enhance your treatment plan with the DiamondPolar™ applicator, which works to further diminish lines and wrinkles. The DiamondPolar™ applicator uses Multi-Polar Radio Frequency and Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields to produce uniform heat under the skin’s surface. This process helps to naturally increase collagen and elastin fibers, resulting in smoother, firmer skin that looks noticeably more youthful.

Venus Viva is effective for all skin types and tones, including dark tones and sensitive skin. Treatments are safe for healthy individuals, unless you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or experiencing an active skin infection.

What to Expect During a Venus Viva Treatment
First a topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area for about 30 minutes to minimize any discomfort. During that time post-care will be reviewed to ensure all your questions are answered. The numbing cream is removed and the treatment area is disinfected.
During the treatment most feel warmth, and you may experience what can be compared to a zap or pin prick with the different pulses. Some areas will experience these sensations more than others.
During the procedure settings may be adjusted for specific treatment areas and conditions being treated. For example, settings for treating pigment from sun damage, age, or rosacea are different than those for tightening skin. Higher energy settings for more pronounced results may be less comfortable.
If you have opted to add Alastin skin Nectar or our post care serums, it will be applied immediately after treatment. If you have opted to include LED Light Therapy with your treatment, you will relax for 20 minutes under the LED lights to jump start the healing process.
What to Expect After a Venus Viva Treatment
Immediately following your treatment, your skin will feel warm and appear pink or moderately red. Some say it looks and feels similar to a sunburn, and it may last up to three days. Some light to moderate mild swelling is also possible which should go down within 12 to 24 hours.
You may notice small pin-point crusts where the electrode pins of the treatment head contacted the skin. These will naturally exfoliate within a week or so and can easily be covered with makeup.
Because the Venus Viva treatment creates tiny wounds, it is very important to follow the post care instructions provided. It is important to keep anything that touches the treated area(s) is clean and dry. If the face or neck are treated, fresh pillowcases the first two nights after treatment are important.
The healing process includes a few days of skin flaking before brighter, smoother skin begins to appear. This typically takes a week, and you’ll typically notice continued improvement for about three months as deeper skin remodeling takes place and new skin cells are replenished. You can just choose one treatment if you’re already happy with what you see, but the most optimal results are achieved with a series of three to four treatments spaced about a month apart.
